Over the past number of years, Devtech has been committed to assessing how businesses can best serve both the customer and the environment.

Devtech has been disposing of all old and defunct printers, MFDs and faxes in a responsible manner in line with WEEE guidelines.

Devtech has been a  pioneer in recycling toners and ink cartridges and have decades of experience in asset management and offer a free audit in order to reduce costs and carbon emissions.

With Epson’s heat-free technology printers using lower power consumption, Devtech are using less energy. This means less fossil fuel usage, leading to fewer carbon emissions going into the atmosphere. Epson are also ending their sales of laser printers worldwide and have added new heat-free inkjet products to complement their business printer range.

For many years Epson have recognised the potential of inkjet to make meaningful advances in sustainability. This unique printing process is heat and pressure-free, reducing carbon emissions and providing a superb energy efficient performance.

In order to reduce their carbon footprint and close the resource loop Epson are investing in environmental technology to the tune of over €600 billion from 2020 to 2030.

Their significant commitment to Heat-Free inkjet technology provides the greater potential of inkjet to make meaningful advances in sustainability and can be seen with the rollout of Epson’s new range of business inkjet multi-function printers (MFPs).

Along with this rollout onto the market they are ending the sale and distribution of the less environmentally friendly laser printer hardware by 2026, but will continue to support customers by supplying consumables and repair parts after it ceases sales of laser printer hardware.

An Epson spokesperson reiterated that Heat-Free inkjets use less energy and fewer consumable parts with the latest technology using mechanical energy to fire ink onto the page. Laser printers work by heating and fusing toner to a page.

Some of the more obvious benefits of Heat-Free inkjets are that they produce up to 85 percent less carbon dioxide than those of comparable laser printers.

Inkjet printers reduce operational costs and environmental impact, while also saving time with high speed printing, and are engineered to decrease downtime and interventions.

“Our printing business will from now put the focus on inkjet, leveraging our propriety technology to deliver efficient, sustainable print solutions.”

Epson began rolling out its new range of office inkjet MFP’s which use the company’s proprietary piezo Heat-Free line-head technology. The new WorkForce Enterprise AM-Series is an important addition to Epson’s business print portfolio.

The new range provides print speeds of 40-60ppm, addressing the mid-range speed market and adds to the rest of the Epson business inkjet lineup providing more ways Devtech services can help your business, benefitting both your bottom line and the environment .

With a compact footprint and lightweight design, the products help limit resources used during production, shipping, storage, with the high-yield ink packs reducing material usage, and they lower power consumption and end-of-use management of consumables, along with reducing downtime for routine maintenance.
